Gov. Scott Opens Session On An Upbeat Note

January 10th, 2012
“Gov. Rick Scott opened the 2012 legislative session today by thanking Florida lawmakers for their past support of his job-creation efforts and said he will stand firm on adding $1 billion to state education funding…. they all applauded Scott’s appeal for putting politics aside and working together to make Florida the nation’s top state for job creation and improving education.”
“During his 34-minute speech, Scott often referred to his own upbringing and business experience. He reminded lawmakers that he ran a doughnut shop and saved money to expand his business holdings for many years. He said the state has created more than 100,000 new private-sector jobs since he took office a year ago. With continued tax cuts and reduction of state regulation, Scott said, Florida can become the nation’s top job-producing state.”
