Consumer confidence in Florida jumps in May

“Maybe the rest of the country should visit Florida for an injection of optimism…..Among Floridians, however, consumer confidence made an unexpected jump in May, a University of Florida survey found.”

“Overall, consumer confidence rose three points in the month to 77… In Florida, gas prices have dropped almost 33 cents a gallon over the past month to $3.47 a gallon. Also aiding optimism: Florida’s unemployment rate has steadily fallen for more than a year, reaching a three-year-low of 8.7 percent in April.”
