When Governor Scott ran for office, he promised to balance the budget without raising taxes and he has kept that promise.
Under the leadership of Governor Scott, the 2012-13 budget makes ends meet in spite of a budget gap in excess of $1 billion, on top of a $3.7-billion gap during the current budget year. Governor Scott vetoed $142.7 million from the budget, adding to Florida’s reserves.
Governor Scott said, “Many decisions will not be politically popular in the short term and the voices of the special interests will be loud and persistent, but your elected officials should be absolutely committed to creating jobs, spending every tax dollar wisely, and getting Floridians back to work.”
